Founded in 1968, Release International is a UK-based Christian ministry, supporting believers around the world who are persecuted for Christ and the gospel.
We were inspired by the life and witness of Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who spent 14 years in communist prisons. His remarkable story was captured in his book, Tortured for Christ.
The words of this biblical command are an important basis for our work:
‘Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated, as if you yourselves were suffering.’
— Hebrews 13.3
We are currently active in around 30 countries where, prayerfully, pastorally and practically, we seek to love and serve persecuted Christians.
